Emmalee was diagnosed with Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma, a rare cancer mainly found in adults who have Hepatitis B or Cirrhosis of the liver, on October 17, 2008. Emm basically had 0% chance of survival but she still battled the cancer with a smile. On October 1st, 2009, Emmalee died peacefully in her home, 20 minutes after getting there from the hospital. The world lost a hero, and heaven gained one.

This is written on one side of her grave:

One day with my parents I started to cry
Not liking the plan, not wanting to die

I don't want to leave...oh how I will miss you
I cannot accept that my short life is through

But finally now, I do understand
what is meant to be and who I really am

I love those I have left,
having passed my earthly test

So dry your tears and know I am near
All is well, my Savior is here

Surrounded by beauty, I know where I stand
I made it to Heaven; I'm holding His hand

'Till We Meet Again

Melly, as always a beautiful video :)

  • @shavertz1 I truly do admire her for her strength to pull through for as long as she did. ♥

  • @KidsCancerChannel Thank for all the work you are doing to bring awareness to this monster. The pain and misery must end!

  • @BRINANZBANZ Emm was brave and strong through all of this. She loved life and didn't want to leave us, but was called home. I miss here like crazy.

  • Emmalee is absolutely gorgeous.

The fact that she had NO chance of surviving is messed up. This is why we need a cure for cancer. It's worth it, considering the number of kids who die every day from it. Kids are the ones that hold the future in their hands, and they deserve a chance at life. They deserve more than 3% of cancer research funds.

Being told one day by a doctor that you would die in a few weeks is so harsh, and scary.

    Rest in peace, Emmalee.
