the "overswing" has nothing to do with Conan movies. It is displayed by many Japanese masters in various tameshigiri.

@GhostXDog Agreed, that's already been covered. The difference would be that there is a defined reason for the overswing other than just trying to cut a target and not controlling where the tip of the sword is going. Cheers

I'm not sure if it's because of that you are talking and showing some things about Iai, but I noticed that your cut is not quite as it should be. Don't get me wrong, I practice Iaido too short to judge you in any kind of way. It's just in the begining of the cut you sometimes swing the sword like a fishing rod - a little bit flat over your head and suddenly the kissaki blasts to the front and the cut is not oval but more like a flat circle. Good vid though.

This is done intentionally. It has to do with maai and where you are cutting. This is certainly not typical of many iai, especially seitei, but in the style I practice, it is imperative. Thanks for the comment.
