Robert Johnson, founder of RLJ Companies is the first African-American billionaire. We also know him as the founder of Black Entertainment Television, but since selling that company to Viacom in 2000, he has become a powerhouse in the business community. In addition to being the first Black owner of a Major League sports franchise, the Charlotte Bobcats, his RLJ Companies have interests in entertainment, financial services and real estate, just to name a few. Today, he is using this power to engage the business community in a plan to -- to decrease the Black unemployment rate, but also increase the presence of African-Americans in corporate America.
Excellent comments! We look forward to seeing you on the official OppsPlace youtube channel where you can see exclusive video from Robert Johnson and learn much more about the new OppsPlace Job/Networking site launching Feb. 13th 2012.

That is true what you said. Human capital is what is going to drop black unemployment not Democrats or Republicans. I want to see more small black business owners and entrepreneurs. I would like to see cultural shift back to honoring marriage. Until blacks rebuild the two parent family poverty will decrease, drug abuse will decrease, unemployment will decrease, drop out rates will decrease. Republicans and Democrats don't give a darn about us black folks except for votes and alienation.

Black unemployment continues to be the highest because we as black people have accepted it. Until blacks take back their communities, stop having all these kids out of wedlock, and focus on building talent and skills then the black unemployment won't be high. Stop kissing the behinds of white Democrats and white Republicans and thinking that black people are going to get ahead.

Thank You Roland & Robert, this was a great segment on your show. Seeing news on the 140,000 jobs created, I wondered; if it was due to hiring for the holiday season and will it drop when the season is over? Never-the-less, I'm happy for those who have found employment.
Very poignant points about what a job is, wealth creation and ESPECIALLY about creating more black small businesses, them hiring people they know (and like) in their neighborhood, and it creating black employment. GOOD STUFF!
