Jeep Grand Cherokee Sudden Acceleration (Not Just Toyota!). Chrysler, referring to their own Sudden Acceleration Defect (the one they deny) and the Toyota Tacoma Sudden Acceleration issue on their blog Chrysler calls these claims "basless" and basically saying Sudden Acceleration is NOT possible blaming floormats and drivers although Chrysler has had over 500 Jeep Grand Cherokee Sudden Acceleration complaints.
On "NON" Drive by Wire JGC's with this problem, it is believed to be TPS, IAC related (which each can cause engine to race) or even possibly Cruise Control Related. Years ago Chrysler did issue a recall for "Some" JGC's for TPS issues causing "high idle". In an investigative story some time ago a mechanic proved that even with CC off by simply shorting a wire (simulating an internal short) that this can cause sudden throttle application.
Chrysler's Sudden Unintended Acceleration problem was so bad that the International Carwash Association issued a warning to Car Wash Operators and Employees about this problem which Chrysler referred to as "false statements and malicious accusations". Yes Chrysler, because Carwash Employees just hate Jeep Grand Cherokees for some reason! This issue continues to occur even with newer Jeep Grand Cherokees and has even been reported to have happened with the Dodge Nitro (there's even a news story about it).
Love or hate Toyota The difference between Toyota and Chrysler is that Toyota is taking responsibility and could have just blamed the customer like Chrysler routinely does for all kinds of serious potentially life threatening safety defects. However Toyota stepped up to take responsibility and issue a recall for their sudden acceleration defect while Chrysler has not and denies it is even possible.

@wd1094 toyotas are completely different from japan and us. its a domestic brand meaning the majority of it needs to be made in the us. japan on the other hand uses all parts from there to keep costs down.

@dodgechryslersucks My Grand Cherokee engine blew at just under 100k and the tranny went around 80K, overheated around 86K, had 5 brake jobs by 50,000, numerus electric issues, overheated at and had to replace the alternator around 40K . Not what I would call a solid vehicle either.

@dodgechryslersucks agree 100% I have a Chrysler product {jeep} and has been by far the worst vehicle I have ever owned. My dad also use to work at a Dodge dealership and people came in all the time complaining about issues they had with their vehicles. I even know ppl that worked for Chrysler, yet don't and wouldn't own one. People should stop trying to defend these vehicles and LISTEN!.

@LZKS Recall's aren't typically forced nor was Toyota forced. They stepped up whether people want to believe that or not. I'm not a Toyota fan but if Chrysler took half the responsibility Toyota has for their vehicles overall, this channel wouldn't even exist. I think it's BS that Chrysler "is" being protected just to be given away to FIAT a foreign company, which is currently in the works, NOT to mention it "was" privately owned and before that was 100 percent German owned. It's a joke!

@dodgechryslersucks I don't know the truth, but I hear gov't forced Toyota to do recalls. Also, watch Sandiego6 news on the lexus crash. Out of nowhere, they randomly show a clip of GM dealerships. Mad sketchy. So, I'm thinking Toyota has no choice but to apologize. Dodge Chrysler are obviously protected by US Govt.

the problem with the jeep is the gas pedal the problem with toyota is the computer jeep never hid its problem toyota did
atgskater14 1 year ago
@atgskater14 first of all you don't know what the problem with the Jeep is because it's never been found just like the Toyota issue. I too believe the issue with Toyotas is computer related but we don't know that for a fact. Come one, get real, I don't like Toyota but Toyota didn't hide anything anymore than Chrysler. Chrysler said SUA "Sudden Unintended Acceleration" is NOT possible and even "again" defended Toyota in it's blogs saying SUA is not possible!!
dodgechryslersucks 1 year ago
@atgskater14 so given Chrysler's stance on the issue and being they've said in their corporate blog that SUA claims are "baseless" even when it came to Toyota Tacoma SUA claims you would then have to believe Toyota doesn't have a problem if you want to listen to Chrysler. The exact source of the issue has never been truely confirmed for Jeeps NOR Toyota mainly because it is is so difficult to duplicate to see and isolate the issue.
dodgechryslersucks 1 year ago
Well, once the International Car Wash Association weighed in, the cover was blown off of the issue!
Those videos prove absolutely nothing. There's not enough evidence there to even suggest there's an issue.
soupsdone 1 year ago
@soupsdone well, I guess it's settled then, Toyota DOESN'T HAVE an SUA issue given your logic. Jeep Grand Cherokees have well over a thousand SUA complaints, Toyotas were just under 500 that started the whole Toytoa hysteria. If something happens so often because car washes alone have seen the issue so much it's probably happening quite a bit. It may not prove anything to you but the thousands of NHSTSA complaints, countless stories and video probably don't prove anything to you either.
