Welcome back to my ho scale layout youtube, not much has changed on the layout, but I have been playing around with the airbrush some more. I weathered my ho scale BNSF intermountain es44ac and my walthers gold line ho scale BNSF green coal porters. I think they turned out great! I no longer have a shiny new ES44AC, so I will need to get another one when they are released.
In other news I am still waiting for my Intermountain ES40DC, the release date has been pushed back to december, Id love to see it come in the mail before christmas.
My new layout has not been started yet, but plans have been drawn up and Im getting closer to figuring out how it will all work. I plan to have two mainlines. I will use either atlas code 100 or code 83 track. I have not decided yet. I will run BNSF and Norfolk southern mainly, but I will definitely have other consists running as well.

I use poly scale acrylic model railroad paints. For the intermountain and walthers BNSF trains, I used the colors "earth" and "dirt", both by themselves, and then a final coat with the two mixed. I mix four units of paint, and then 1 unit of distilled water. When I am done weathering and happy with the final look, I seal it with testors dull cote.

*NOTE* Do NOT use any amount of alcohol on the intermountain models, the paint and decals WILL be damaged. Use only soap and water if you want to remove the paint.

If anyone has an intermountain BNSF ES44AC that they would like to sell me, I would be interested in buying it from you (assuming its new in box)

Thanks for watching and look for more videos in the future!

  • The weathering on this loco looks excellent. That's exactly how I'd like mine to look.

mounted cameras are very cool indeed! I don't like taking my trains apart, because usually i end up breaking them. However, if I could find a small camera to attach to a flat car or something, i would definitely follow up on that. Right now my layout is very tight, so it would be hard to get a camera to fit through tunnels and stuff. I don't feel like dropping several hundred dollars on a micro camera, so i guess until the technology drops in price I'm gonna have to wait :(

  • You mentioned taking this video with your phone. Have you looked into mounting cameras INSIDE your locos? I think that is the wave of the future. Very cool to operate from inside your trains.

  • Nice engine, even if it is modern (I prefer 1960-1970s era). I like weathering on rolling stock and building, but I like my locos shiny and clean.
