60sec interval

My second attempt at doing a time lapse. This time I cleaned the window, unfortunately I can't clean the other side. So when night falls, you can see how dirty it is.

The city lights start to 'bloom' because of condensation building up on the window. I kept it wiped down until around 2.30am once I saw what was happening.

I used a battery grip, and swapped batteries out as they got low. I was careful not to bump the camera, but you can still see the knocks. At 2.30am I put both batteries in, and hoped it would last until morning.

I didn't count on the reflections in the window showing up, so there's around 5 frames of my Microwave running. Dinner was good.

The light from my TV was also reflecting, so I grabbed a dark-ish towel and hung it from the curtain rail over the camera, but you can see the reflection from it. Also I didn't draw the curtains back enough so you can see them too.

As I upload this video, I've got my 500D shooting another time lapse. I've got the window wide open, so there's not going to be the dirty window issue, and I'm not going to bother swapping the batteries. 3rd times a charm.

  • hi ! i am a new beginer and i have a question about time lapse, i want to ask what tools or softwares should be needed to do a time lapse wtih canon 500D?thx a lot !

  • The camera comes with the software to shoot a time lapse. To put the individual photos together I use quicktime 7 pro. It enables you to open/import an image sequence. You then save it out as a movie, and upload to youtube. It's really easy.

  • thx a lot ,it sounds quite easy! but i can't find funtion in the camera, dose the funtion should be installed by a CD with the camera! thx!

  • You need to install the software on the CD, and then connect the camera via the USB cable. The app is called EOS Utilitly and it has a remoted shooting menu option. You then set it up to shoot at intervals.

  • Name of the song please, btw great vid

  • which CD is it on?

  • @Keithwoodhall

didn't know that ac adapter existed, thanks!

  • I love my t1i but no time lapse yet. You can get an ac adaptor to get rid of the battery issue. Like 35 bucks on eBay. It fits in the battery slot since there is no ac jack on the camera.

  • how does the battery last all that time??

  • thx a lot!

  • Yes that would work perfectly.

  • Hi! I got another question! If I want to shot the cloud and make a cloud time lapse, should I take a shot every 20 seconds? And i want to shot in the morning for 5-6 hours!
