people...normal horses are 1000 plus pound animals. the average human weighs between 150 and 200lb...perspective...a little whip, used for encouragement is NOT going to hurt the horse. horses in the wild kick and bite one another with full force, a human cant match that if they tried.

Think people need to get a LIFE I have rode all my life and I live on a riding stable and whipping a horse DOES NOT hurt them they have tough skin! So stop critising you havent rode thoose horse so how do YOU know what there like so keep your unwanted comments to yourself

I AM THE BOSS!!!" have you ever heard of clinton anderson? he says, if a horse acts up, you have to move their feet, and if the keeps acting up, move his feet til he is just dead tired enough to stand still. it works on my horses. when my paint stallion drags pple round when they try to lead him, i lunge him, wear him out, til he is good enough to be nice. and with whips, you could NEVER match the strength of a horse.

@lilhorsegurl But if you're hopping down off your horse mid ride just because he's being an asshole or disrespectful, all you're doing is showing him that he's won. And you know what? He'll keep doing it, because it gets in his head that when he acts up, you'll just hop off. All it does is make your horse a spoiled brat. There is NOTHING wrong with using a whip correctly as an extension of yourself. I don't know why people are so up in arms, but I don't see a single whip in this video.

There is a pony at my riding school who i ride called Sunny. A whip has to be used with him or he will not listen he will throw in little bucks and throw his head the whip does not hurt a pony/horse if It's used right horses and ponies have thick tough skin.

@pinkfeathers2006 It does NOT mean that whipping with ANY force and ANY circumstances doesn't hurt. It DOES and leaves bruises and haematomas.
