The artifact is a short movie, about three to four minutes in length that reviews the many activities that I did while I was in Chengdu. I used Windows Movie Maker to combine pictures, music, and movie clips to describe my visit within the city. It includes an interesting combination of text, special effects, animations, and motions, to fully explain the experiences the eighth and ninth graders had. The text also includes some of the information that was provided to us while we were visiting the many sites.
This artifact connects to the Global and Community ESLR. This is true because the artifact explains the culture of Chengdu and the beauty that is within the city, which happens to be the capital of Sichuan. The artifact helps us better understand our surroundings and gain a better explanation of the different cultures in China; we are broadening our minds to new experiences. This project also shows how each of the eighth and ninth graders spent time with each other and developed friendships and communication among each other.
This artifact is the most interactive artifact that I have done in Technology class so far. This is because the previous assignments were page documents, where the information was there but there were no moving animations to explain the information. This artifact provides pictures that will give more visual input on what was done during the trip to Chengdu this year, but the animations and transitions will allow those pictures to flow together to create an organized artifact. Instead of having to read much text and staring at two or three pictures that have been improved, this movie allows all of the previous components to be put onto a video (Photoshop and InDesign could have been used to improve the quality of certain pictures). The skills that were used before can be used with these new skills from Movie Maker to create a "moving-picture" artifact that replays the highlights of the Chengdu trip.
by the way, i know the explanation is really long. it was for a school project. :D
