I keep very strong to my opinion that the only reason people are "preferring" Shaytard's wife's version is because they are blinded by their adoration for the family, and not actually because her version is better. The Wailin' Jennys are incomparable, and technically much better singers. Still, people can have whatever opinion they want.

I didn't realize the song was about soldiers. If that's not the immediate metaphor, it definitely applies; either way, I didn't notice it until seeing this particular vid.

Just gonna go ahead and say, Wailin' Jennys over Mommytard anyday.

But this is a very moving series of images and it goes very well, albeit very sad, with this music. Good job.

This song has always been very moving, regardless of its application... but this is very well done.
