Wrightspeed X1 vs. Lamborghini Gallardo and NASCAR

Filmed at Altamont Motorsports Park on Jan 23, 2007. Shows the Wrightspeed X1 prototype electric car against a Gallardo (520hp, AWD) and a Nascar. Standing start and a couple of laps. Lambo gets off the line well, but the clutch smells really hot after just a few starts. NASCAR is not set up for standing starts but goes well once it's up to speed. X1 is quite happy with standing starts, it's not hard on the car at all. Max lateral g was 1.41, on Hoosier A6 tires. Max speed was a little under 100mph. It's a half mile oval.

Thing is, NASCAR race cars are not built for acceleration or takeoffs you need to have a running start for a fair race

@34peterbilt Stop talking Bullshit the Base Weight of this ECar with a V8 so called Ariel Atom V8 800 Kilos the Lamborghini and Nascar are much more heavyer because of its Comfort and a Closed Boody. If you know Physics you would know that if you double the Weight of a Car you need 4 Times more Power to get the same Accereration and Speed.

Elektric Engines can go up to 20000RMP and need less care than Combustion Engines. Look at the Jaguar X-C75 its a Hybrid Racer with 800BHP and Hybrid because its Uses Turbines to charge the Batterie and so its able to go about 1000 Kilometers. Elektric Cars are Expansive because the a build in little Series and all the cost of Development are put on Top the Material Prices. So Elektric Engines are for Sure the Future. So if you dont get the Point now, I dont know what to say.

@sirazzatron Electric cars are FAR WORSE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT. They are silly and stupid. Their technology is SUPPORTED By the petrol industry because it PROLONGS the use of petrol. Intelligent people realise that HFC vehicles like the Clarity FCX IS the only INTELLIGENT way to go. Anything else is just big business making stupid people think that they are smart.
