@sh9683 The first shot was a spine shot, not killing the deer. The second one was through heart, killing the deer almost instantly after the first shot. Please if you were not there, don't say something was necessary or unnecessary.

Nice buck! Sharing that moment with your son Priceless! I took out my son last year, day after thanksgiving, though he didn't shoot (8 y.o.) and the buck I got was only a little 4 pointer, it was the best hunting trip of my life, and i've shot some nice bucks in Canada and out west. What caliber was Jack using, looking to buy my son a rifle for his 10th b-day. I would also like to make a request, if you can get some video footage of your blind, i'm looking to make one.
