October 4, 2008 Pittsburgh Pennsylvania celebrated its 250 year history. This Pittsburgh fireworks display was launched from a record 17 different positions around the city including barges, the rooftops of the USX, PPG, Two PNC, One Mellon and Fifth Avenue Place buildings plus the West End Bridge.
This was the largest fireworks display in the history of Pittsburgh. It required 25 computers and more than 40 professional pyrotechnicians.
Zambelli Fireworks may have set a world record with 17 different launch sites for this celebration. This fireworks display was choreographed to a soundtrack of local artist.
George Zambelli senior always envisioned this massive fireworks display in Pittsburgh. Unfortunately he passed away before it came to fruition.
Pittsburgh we love you for being the most fireworks loving city in United States thanks to all who contributed to this display.
