I love the Maya, my ancestors. The song could have been better, and I would have picked Yiki'in Chan Kawi'il, but I still like the way they are in Civ IV. Let's hope they show soon in Civ V.

@tseantan That's two things. Two. How can you assume that with only two pieces of evidence?
Also, do you really think the funeral mask and tomb lid would be accurate anyway? Many other cultures did this and theirs certainly were not.

@GortonMichael Compare this Pakal with real depictions of Pakal example: his funeral mask and tomb lid. I can't see the resemblance. Being Mayan does not mean you would know what a Mayan leader back then looked like unless they studied the history

Depictions of rulers certainly prettied up them but doesn't mean they were entirely inaccurate. Other Civ4 rulers looked worser than Pakal like Isabella without auburn hair and Charlemagne looking like Jesus. So I'll stop complaining here. The designer for the leaders didn't considered historical accuracy.

@tseantan Actually for most Civ4 players Charlemagne looks more like the Burger King mascot. :P
But I have read somewhere that artists at the time of Charlemagne are told to mold his likeness on sculptures and paintings based on the face of Jesus.
But yeah, totally agree about the hair color of Isabella.
