Leland Hardy, Founder and Original Registrant of NEWYORK.COM, films his fellow Legion of Mary brethren as they visit with and deliver Christmas gifts to one of their very favorite proteges, Nicholas, at Centennial Village convalescent center at Belmont and Lancaster Avenues in West Philadelphia, PA on 12/28/09. Nicholas, who may very well be a savant based on his incredibly photographic memory, is shown reciting verbatim a lengthy and touching prayer that he wrote for his mother more than forty years ago. This crew if from Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church located at 48th Street and Lancaster Avenue in West Philadelphia, PA. The Our Mother of Sorrows chapter of the Legion of Mary, the latter being the largest Catholic lay organization in the world, is among the most active anywhere. Led by Sister Arlene Mayo and meeting weekly after Sunday morning mass, the chapter convenes at the church's rectory to pray the Rosary, pray the Tessera, and to plan the forthcoming week's charitable works. Leland Hardy's father, Melvin L. Hardy, Sr., was a beloved member of Our Mother of Sorrows parish for some nearly sixty years and was an active member of the Legion of Mary.
