In this jiu jitsu video, you'll learn how to do a jiu jitsu hip throw technique based on the O-goshi judo hip throw from Eduardo Rocha, jiu jitsu champion and 4th degree black belt under Royler Gracie. The O-goshi is one of the original 40 throws in judo and has been modified by Gracie jiu jitsu to prevent the opponent from gaining access to your back. This takedown is also useful in jiu jitsu because it teaches you how to properly position your hips, making it easy to learn other hip throws from here.

Learning the hip throw is one of the bjj blue belt requirements taught by Eduardo at his Gracie jiu jitsu academy, Rocha Jiu Jitsu, in Oakland, CA. After mastering this jiu jitsu technique, please subscribe to get more jiu jitsu videos from our Blue Belt Requirements series.
