We just did this at my school. I played Martha... and you're right Mary is supposed to be near tears at this point. That's why Martha sings this; to give her hope and strength. If Mary's pissed the song isn't really necessary.

@jewlz600 Mary Thinks that Colin is going to die because of her and Mary is being sent off to a school, she doesn't end up leaving though, because Archie (The uncle) Comes back. :]

I'm mary in my production of this, and I'm about near "tears" at this point about Colin and I have to hold her hand the whole time and It's ADORABLE! xD At the end, Martha and I look into eachother's eyes as she sings and I start to smile and we hug IT'S SO CUTEEEE! xD
