He got terribly lucky there missing the green, but played some of his most spectacular Snooker throughout the match - in fact, the 1989 Benson & Hedges Irish Masters Final remains one of my favourite matches to watch of all time, as Alex would not stop firing in shots that no modern-day pro (at least none of the ones who make it to the telly stages) would even attempt. I've seen championship caliber players' jaw drop watching this match! I wonder if this was Alex's last pro title win - guess so.
