http://www.visitnebraska.gov/byways Sometimes referred to as one of the last unexplored frontiers, this remote countryside brims with dramatic and ever-changing landscape- from abundant fields of corn to the rolling hills of cattle country and from plentiful marshes and wetlands to the nation's largest hand-planted forest. This is an opportunity to slow life down a bit and lose yourself in the peaceful solitude of your surroundings.

As you enjoy the splendor of the scenery, you will also find numerous opportunities to view the area's wildlife. Don't miss the annual sandhill crane migration and the prairie chicken booming. Each spring, nature lovers, photographers, and bird enthusiasts flock to Nebraska to witness these phenomenal rituals.

And for a look into the region's rich Western history, stop by one of many museums and historic buildings along the 272-mile byway, including the Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer.
