  • it is called a belly band, and it makes you aware of your stomach so you will suck your stomach in. My gym has them too...it has nothing to do with hip alignment, only because they are maid of this really stretchy material, so it wouldn't work.

  • what is the white strap that is around annie's waist for????

  • soooooo cute! <333

  • @Gymgymilovegym his name is realastik

  • @TheRealAskic does it matter?

  • But that was only 41 seconds...

  • @USAgymnast52 to make you aware of your stomach so you will suck it in and keep tight :)

  • @Beccka Maybe I am wrong...I am just simply stating that at my gym and all the other gyms around the area, we use them for awareness of our stomachs. Lots of the younger girls tend to have "watermelon bellys" :p

  • @Gymfan4ever95 I know the bands are not tight - I pointed that out in my original reply to your comment, when you said that the bands were to make people suck in their stomachs. They're stretchy - the bands provide a visual cue about body alignment.

Look at where the gymnasts wear the bands. Generally, they are down around the top of the hips, below the belly button. That's the hipline, not the stomach.

  • @Beccka Sure, no problem. Sorry. I was just saying that they aren't tight enough to do anything for the hips. And if they are, that isn't what most gymnasts use them for. You are probably right about the one's for dancers...but I don't think they are the same.

  • @Gymfan4ever95 Could you perhaps be a little more articulate in your answer?

  • @Beccka haha noo:)
