J.E.E.P.: Jeepneys Enhanced for Environmental Protection, aims to create a simple solution to a taxing problem in the very heart of the Philippines' Metro. By merging culture and innovation, J.E.E.P.'s main goal would be to minimize litter thrown onto the streets of Manila by adding trash bins to the Philippines' most famous method of transportation--the jeepney, a cultural public utility vehicle. This project would be held with the cooperation of a jeepney union in San Juan, Metro Manila, whose jeepneys will be receiving garbage bins for their passengers to throw their trash in. On this note, this project will be worked out with recycling plants within the San Juan area that are willing to buy waste that the bins in these jeepneys will accumulate.

We believe that we can change the entire of notion of what it means to be green, here in the Philippines, for the everyday average Filipino.

Process:

1. Jeepney drivers will be given trash bins and marketing stickers to be placed in their respective jeepneys.

2. In their rounds around the Metro, their trash cans will accumulate trash, most of which are recyclable such as plastic bottles.

3. After their rounds, they will bring these recyclables to a storage facility, where all Jeepney drivers of the Union will deposit their waste materials.

4. The garbage recyclers then proceed to the storage facility to retrieve the trash collected by the drivers of the union.

5. The money profited will be placed into the union's trust fund for their driver's use,i.e, repairing their Jeeps ( The source of their livelihood) and/or provide for their sick family members.

At the bear minimum, the union can acquire more than 200,000 pesos ($4,000 more or less) a year by simply collecting 8 bottles a day per jeep. Take note: we have yet included other recyclable materials into the equation.

Win for the Environment
Win for the Livelihood of ordinary citizens
Win for the Citizens of Metro Manila
Win for the ability to change the mindsets of Filipinos
Win for the tourism industry of Philippines
Win for the non-existent future typhoon and flood victims.

Win for our Future.
