Must have felt so nice sitting in your car watching that, I love lightning storms.
By the way, are you safe if lightning strikes your car?

Nope, no tornadoes in this one. What sort of looked like that was just heavy rain shafts that formed into a dark area under the storm.

Nice vid! Photography Heaven! :D
did you chase alone in this vid?
Staccato26 4 years ago
Thanks! Yeah, chased this one solo. Usually prefer it that way when chasing highly electrified, intense storms like this one due to the increased direct threat from rogue streamers and/or return strikes. A Non-tornadic storm with CG's hitting everywhere is much more dangerous than your average tornadic supercell just because of the random/nearly unpredictable nature of lightning. And yes, this would've been photography heaven--if I actually had my dSLR!! (;-(

0:59 was close!!! did that hit ur car? or is that the ghost affect?
cowboyzsuk81 4 years ago
LOL...Fortunately, none of the strikes hit the car. Some came damn close though!! By ghost effect, I think you're referring to the foggy area on the windshield that looks to be "under" or in-line with the camcorder's view where the staccato (+CG) bolt hit? Either way, again that strike did NOT hit the car! The streaked mist on the windshield was from the defrost trying to clear the glass. One of these days...
