The Cell Collective (www.thecellcollective.org) is a FREE collaborative platform for modeling biological processes and virtual cells developed at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
One of the main objectives of The Cell Collective is to allow laboratory and computational scientists to build, simulate, and analyze large-scale virtual cells in a highly collaborative and intuitive fashion.
Some of the main highlights of the platform:
1) No math or computer programming skills are necessary to build/modify/simulate models. Use qualitative biological findings as discovered in the laboratory to build virtual cells.
2) Real-time simulations of virtual cells.
3) Simulate many biological what-if scenarios using gain/loss-of-function.
4) Knowledge base to keep track of biological data that backs up the computational models.
5) Share models with a specified group of colleagues, or the entire community.
6) One of the largest models of intracellular signaling in a fibroblast cell published is already available for all users to simulate or contribute to.
7) Discussions in an integrated forum.
