INTERVIEW with CHARITY WATER'S SCOTT HARRISON On LATIN AMERICA

charity: water is a non-profit organization that started in 2006 with a simple idea: everyone on the planet should have clean water to drink. 100% of public donations directly fund water projects. Here are some numbers for you to consider:

* Almost a billion people on the planet don't have access to clean drinking water.
* 90% of the 30,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and unhygienic living conditions are of children under five years old.
* $20 can provide clean water for one person.
* charity: water has 4,282 projects funded. And 2,060,00 people will get clean water in 19 countries and with the help of 25 partner organizations.

I met Scott Harrison, the founder of this terrific charity at Mashable's Social Good Summit 2011 where he was spreading the word about his organization and I asked him a bit about the good work charity: water is doing in Latin America, how serious the lack of water was and what the difficulties were around the region.
