There actually is a small town in South America where the streets have no name.
No big fuss about it. 'Cause this song rocks!

Okay, the open desert does not have street names first of all, second of all the joshua tree is in california but on tour they spent four nights in arizona(many of the songs on joshua tree are about/for Arizona, third of all, I will guarantee you that this song is NOT written about Africa and is indeed written about Arizona...

The only problem with your logic is that Joshua Tree national park is in California not Arizona....and as a 17 year native of the arizona desert, I can tell you I have yet to encounter a nameless road

Incorrect. This song is about Arizona (the desert) which is why it is named "Where the streets have no name" (the desert doesn't have street names)....and this song is on the album "Joshua Tree" which is in ARIZONA. So therefore you are incorrect. Listen to the lyrics, carefully, It's talking about AZ not Africa, and was written about the desert, not africa.

That is Bono's inspiration behind the lyrics. This is why Bono usually ties the performance of this song in with something to do about Africa.

This song is written about him and his wife's journey to Ethiopia when they were just married in 1985

It's also written to tell the people how he sometimes feel. He feels controlled by a city and wants to bring down the walls that hold him inside. he feels claustrofobic. thats another reason. its in the first couplet;)

The Joshua tree is basically a greatest hits collection, except it's a studio album.
Go U2
