New York Democratic Representative Anthony Weiner has found himself in the middle of "Weinergate." On Friday night, May 27 2011, a picture appeared on his Twitter depicting a man's erection in underwear. The lewd image was sent to 21 year-old college student Gennette Cordova and removed from Weiner's account shortly afterward. Weiner -- a rumored candidate to run for the 2013 New York City mayoral election -- insists his account was hacked and has hired a lawyer on Tuesday to battle these allegations. A spokesman for Weiner said the congressman is exploring "civil or criminal actions" in response to the incident, which he called a "prank." 
Weiner, 46, is married to Huma Abedin, an aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The female college student who was the alleged target of Weiner's Tweet has said in a statement to the New York Daily News that even though she and Weiner follow each other on Twitter, the two have never met in person, nor have there been any "inappropriate exchanges" between the congressman and herself. The conservative blog The Prudence Paine Papers, however, uncovered some evidence of prior illicit behavior from Weiner on Twitter, when a porn star said he has messaged her. 
The Twitter post was first reported by conservative website Biggovernment.com.
