This juvenile cowrie (a type of sea snail), about 4 inches long, is one of the most beautiful creatures I've ever seen. Unfortunately the colors in the video don't do it justice - the mantle was a rich wine burgundy red, and the tips of its "bumps" brilliant yellow.

  • is this really a cowrie? It looks to me like a juvenile ovula ovum, not cypraea. And it is feeding on a sponge (or soft coral) - right up the ally of the ovula group.
