1. Learn to play a tune on the melodeon (done)

This at least proves that it's possible to get a tune out of the £15 toy melodeons that seem to be everywhere at the moment.
Your comments might convince my girlfriend that I deserve a real one...

My children gave me a melodeon for Christmas--to ward off Alzheimers, I think. I discovered that however hard I try, when I am playing (well, trying to play) the corners of my mouth turn down like an inverted smiley face.
Note to girlfriend: If he has got this far on a toy, he deserves a real instrument. Loosen up and help him buy one. The Morris sides are waiting.
