  • I'm looking for a charger like this that I can attach to the top of my rucksack when I go backpacking across Europe early next year, it would need to be incredibly durable due to the way it's going to be used and it would also be good if it could charge an internal battery so o don't need to have my devices plugged in while I'm moving

  • @Hullspawn Please look up our phone number on our website and give us a call so we can discuss your requirments.

  • The USB standard specifies a voltage of 4.5 to 5.5 and a sustained current of 500mA.

A "USB" master that do not deliver 500mA is not at USB device

A "USB" host that demands over 500mA is not a USB device.

According to the spec, a device that gets it power from the USB shall use capacitors to store energy for burst power needs.

Note, the USB standard don't say that a phone shall charge from USB. It can use batt. for power. The data link is USB compliant (phone gets it's power from the battery)

  • @kvasilepton

The sCharger-5 is a USB charging device and can deliver up to 1100ma. Some of the newer computer USB ports are now surpassing the 500ma limit. Did you know that? Sometimes these specs are not released at the same time as the new hardware. The stuff that is actually being made and released right now. As a solar charger company, we have to stay right on the bleeding edge of new technology. And thats what we do well.

  • @suntactics Actually the limits for computer usb ports have no gone part 500ma and a simple solar car trickle charger will output more power than your shitty overprised device.

Hooking a usb car trickle charger up to a cheap SLA battery from ebay is even better for when the sun isnt strong enough to charge anything directly. solar car charger= £14, SLA battery 12volts and 7amps = £12

Your product.... a load of shit.

  • @eraldorh You certainly can build a solar kit that includes a panel, a charge controller, a SLA battery and hook up a car trickle charger. You can also run an inverter off it as well. Have you done this? We have. Our customers do not want to deal with such a system. They are people that travel, hike and like the compact, light weight design so they can carry it with them.

Since the release of iPad and other tabs more PCs are supporting higher power USB outputs. Google it.

  • $140?!! the cells on thier own probably cost around $5, you could sell these for $15 and still make a profit. its a nice product but there is no way you can justify that price.

  • great !
