Reportaz and Chris Cutler, festival Alternativa 25.11.2008 Prague. „The Media Operation" - musical project initiated by Reportaz group (Andrzej Karpinski and Witold Oleszak) from Poznan. The concert's theme will be the role of the media in today's world as seen by musicians and from a Polish perspective. This country has been the object of unending experiments: sociological, political, economic and cultural. Poland, located in the center of Europe, has also become a place of misinformation and false histories. In terms of music, this project will be influenced by the long-standing tradition of improvisational rock as well as drawing from the newest experiments in sound technology. The band/group will utilize old analogue instruments: percussion, keyboards and other instruments whose sound will be electronic. These various sounds will be mixed live by the musicians. The lyrics have been taken from the daily newspapers and presented in a spoken melodic form. In unexpected moments, these prepared texts will be woven into the thread of the concert. The musicians, imitating emissions from radio, television and the press will be conducting an operation on a "sick" copying machine.....The project's atmosphere will be complemented by a specially prepared choreography of which the primary element is a surgical lamp hung over the heads of the musicians in the middle of a grey-light blue stage. An additional effect will be false information about the band/group distributed before the concert. http://www.reportaz.com http://www.ccutler.com
