This truck sat for over two years before I bought it and trailered it home. The gas was bad and it wouldn't really start or run on it. After trailering it home, draining the bad fuel and replacing with fresh, it fired right up and settled into this idle. I'm quite happy with my purchase.

Looks good and sounds good, but it's got a bit to go still. The brakes are soft, and I suspect again it's just bad fluid. In fact all the fluids need replacing and one of the spring perches needs rewelding to the frame. Thankfully there is no rust that demands attention, and very little rust altogether. The hardtop is off in the garage, but it's likely shot. Car cancer ate the support rails out of it. Other than that the brake light doesn't work on the rear driver's side, the horn doesn't work and the entire HVAC system needs going through.

Truck specs:
1976 International Harvester Scout II
IH 345ci "SV" v8
Chrysler TorqueFlite 727 3-speed automatic transmission
Dana 20 transfer case
Dana 44 axles, 3.54 ratios

  • This sounds crazy but how many mpg does it get?

  • Nice truck! I have a 77 with a 51 Willys Wagon body!!! Love the IH drivetrain though!!!

  • Does that have a cam in it??? It sounds sick!

  • @mahmahmonkey They rust out fast because the bodies are not galvanized or treated making the only protection from oxidation the paint. In the early 60s they galvanized them making them less prone to rust or so I hear

  • my 65 scout has a factory pto driven winch

  • nice scout man! love the sound! Bad ass Binder! Check mine out its on my uploads

  • @goldrock1369 Why did they rust so bad? I had a 74 and 75 and the floor looked like swiss cheese before the new car smell was gone.

  • Nice old Scout!!! I have a '75 with a 345 V8 with a 4 barrel Holley carb and a 3 speed Torque-Flite as well as dual 2 and a half inch Magnaflow mufflers that I bought from a buddy of mine in Florida, I just put a 700 pound Warn winch and Cibie off road lights on it, I also put in an MP3/iPod compatible sound system, Scouts are really fun and capable off-road vehicles, I guarantee that you'll have loads of fun with yours once you get it all fixed up. Enjoy your new Scout!!!
