Year After Oil Spill, Obama Energy Policy Endangers Economy

The Heritage Foundation and the Institute for Energy Research traveled to Harvey, LA, to film Leslie Bertucci, owner of R and D Enterprises, for this oil spill anniversary video. Bertucci welcomed us to her warehouse with a weary smile, handed us hard hats and cheerfully guided us through her equipment yard, even as she explained the difficulties she's endured since the spill -- most especially as a result of the offshore drilling moratorium and the subsequent slowdown in deepwater permits.

This video pisses me off. This is what is wrong with our economy. To grow it, you need to consume more and more and absolutely no thought is given as to what you're doing to the environment. Do we really need to be drilling for as much oil as we do? Not really, but Americans gots to have their vacations and boating trips. This country is doomed.

Great video. I remember something Milton Friedman said in 1979. He said, "If the Opec countries had hired our own energy regulators to be THEIR agents, they couldn't have done a better job. But they got them for free." I could care less what the goals of this administration is, but the results of their actions and inactions is to enrich Opec while starving American energy workers, and increase the energy costs of every American. What's that saying by the road to hell and good intentions?

I commend the folks that made it for their tireless work and effort to put a human face on a man made tragedy that serves no real purpose and has absolutely nothing to do with safety.
