Race to the Finish!

Assignment #1 for Digital Media Studio

Concept Statement:
This short film is a race to the finish!

The visual style I have tried to achieve is a 'techno' platform game. My inspirations were the Nintendo 64 game Super Smash Brothers and Tron.

The song is "Leave you far behind" by Lunatic Calm, I believe the song matches the environment's 'techno' feel as well as the fast pace of the film. The change in the music mixes things up as the view switches from conventional platform game to a more dramatic view.

I wanted to rouse in the audience that feeling that you get when you are playing a computer game. This is why the characters are real people, they are there to symbolise the relationship between the character on the screen and the person playing the game. The characters poses also provide a sense of humour to the movie, which helps to entertain the audience.

I have also tried to include the theme of competition. The race is a closely fought match between the two characters, each trying to better the other. Knowing that the two characters are brothers also brings in the sense of sibling rivalry.

Who hasn't wanted to push their brother into a pit of lava?
