The foam roller is a wonderful device to use as a support along the length of your spine as you work on deep breathing. "Belly breathing" helps reduce stress by calming our sympathetic (or flight or fight) system and increasing our mind-body awareness. Nicole demonstrates using the roller to open up the rib cage and lung space for improved deep breathing. Also described is how to stretch the pecs and shoulders while you practice deep long breaths using the muscles in your lower abdomen.
