The Riding Mechanic chappies, in these sleds, 'ave always impressed me viz a vie their courage and heroic ability "to hang-on and close their eyes." And quite rarely did ya ever hear them scream in terror...usually ONLY in the corners...during massive drifts...all crossed-up. How cute was it always to see them, after the event with rag in hand, wiping the tears from their eyes. The casual fan thought that he shed 'em out of joy (for a good finish)...we KNOW different!

I agree with David. There is so much history and so many great stories that a lot of us are too young to know. A little more Rick Mears, whom I do remember very well, would be fun too... ;-)
