I know sometimes its a bit strange when you don know what kind of food u are eating, even though it tastes good. I am Asian and I hate the taste of Cherry because I drank a lot of cherry favor cough syrup when I was a child and I didn't know what is cherry at all :)

@johnlewisy Lol a lot of these English teaching jobs require you to have a bachelor's degree. I'm going to get mine and teach in Japan even though the pay is total shit even for US... and Japan's expenses are higher >.<

I forgot to add that the EPIK program only applies to Commonwealth countries- if applying from America, I'm pretty sure that you're going to need to go through recruiters (they pay less though so try getting into a government program if you can). Before getting a visa, get a visa confirmation number from your employer- really important

@johnlewisy You can apply for EPIK from America without going through a recruiter. We actually make more money working for a private school than we would working for EPIK. However, EPIK employees do have more job stability as well as more vacation time.

I used to work at an Korean consulate- the people who usually apply to become english teachers are ....on the lower end of the graduating scale in university. This means it very common to see people with...F grade and below average marks on their transcripts, going to ...teach elementary kids in Korea. Why Korea? That's because Korea apparently pays the highest to english teachers when compared to China and Japan. I'm not saying this person is dumb, it's probably different with America

@johnlewisy For your information, I graduated college with Cum Laude honors and was a member in 3 different honors societies. I was president in one of those honors societies and was also president/founder of SIFE at our university. Before I came to Korea I was a reporter for a newspaper. We chose Korea because we had several friends in our university that were from Korea, it had nothing to do with the amount of compensation we would receive.
