Title: Ludwig
Artist: Amon Düül II
Album: Made in Germany

A peculiar kind of bathing took place yesterday
King Ludwig was to meet the Doc on Starnbergsee
The Doctor's will is the monarchists' politicians'
Was he bad, asks Sissi the snake
I was not mad, says Ludwig the fake
Castles were built of marble and gold
The king's left alone, suddicts were sold
Our king has lost his grip and his virility
He drowned himself at dawn the waves wept jewellery
He wasn't yet dead when Wagner wrote the requiem
Was he bad, asks Sissi the snake
I was not mad, says Ludwig the fake
Castles were built of marble and gold
The king's left alone, suddicts were sold
Is he dead? the chancellor raves
What a drag! Bavaria's pride
Was it a bet? the court is amazed
Was he a fag? he ran out of sand

  • why not the whole song( presented in 3 parts )? The last good work from Weinzierl in Duul II. After "Made in Germany" the group falls in a terrible decadence.

  • That's right. Their only good song after Made in Germany was Flower of the Orient on Pyragony.

phallus dei is commune-drum-bongo-chaos....this isn´t decadence...the Made in Germany-Album is brilliant, innovative and dynamique....amon duul was going forward and forward...i don´t like this nostalgia about these long long improvisations...it´s another thing here

  • The part left out was the best part!

  • maybe you must be german to understand the joke here. the song is not kind of flat as it seems.

the next following instrumental track should have been put behind to make this obviously, as it was intended in 75.

  • Decadence is relative. In this case, to what?

  • It is a plucked violin, played by Chris Karrer.

  • this sounds like a 60s flower pop band from england.............weird.

  • Keys or guitar with effects I guess

  • is this amon duul??! I remember Phallus Dei, great music!! This is decadence and sadness.

  • I love the sound of that thing that comes at 0:18 great. Love that thing whatever it is!

  • hmmm, maybe i oughta reconsider the later stuff......sounds like the beatles.
