Mary Bono is an energetic and emerging political figure from Palm Springs California (45th District). Mary was first elected to Congress in 1998 to fill the seat previously held by her late husband Sonny Bono.

Serving on the Energy and Commerce Committee mary has been a strong supporter of environmental issues and has received awards for her work on issues surrounding Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

The Congresswoman is a strong advocate of returning authority to local government, particularly in public education. Bono opposes the existing federal tax structure, supports tax relief and advocates a reduction in the federal bureaucracy.
