Queer as Folk: Coming Out & Bullying (Drew/Emmett)

This vid was totally inspired by the Kurt Hummel/Dave Karofsky story arc on "Glee". There are just so many parallels - Drew and Dave as the seemingly straight football jocks, both deeply in the closet and in denial about their sexuality; Emmett and Kurt as the out and proud gay guys who manage to get under the other's skin. So this is for all of ye Kurtofsky fans out there. Watch out for Drew's speech about the bullying he did at high school after the song.

I always loved the way that Drew looked at Emmett right from that first encounter when Emmett was catering Drew's engagement party. They were my favorite QAF couple. I really would have liked for them to have ended up together!

@shinojosa8 Drew checking Emmett out at the party is one of my favourite scenes. And the kiss in Drew's car, which sadly didn't make the cut for this vid. <3 It's too bad they got no happy end on the show, though in my head, they met again once Drew was "of age" ... :D

@merlenhiver Me too I picture them walking off into the sunset together..... :D I love the connection you have made with Kurt/Karofsky on Glee it is as if Drew and Em are Kurt and Karofsky all grown up! I know it is not popular to feel this way but I like Karofsky and really feel for his character. It must be incredibly difficult for butch guys especially those involved in butch sports like football or basketball to come out. It would be a public service if closeted athletes came out!

@shinojosa8 I really hope that Dave's coming out will change people's attitudes about gay athletes as well as butch guys being gay, if only on a small scale. Just yesterday there was an article in a German newspaper where the captain of the National Soccer Team advised gay pro athletes against coming out (!). I think Glee might make a contribution towards changing that attitude through Dave Karofsky's story. (As you can see, I'm a huge Dave fan too. :D)
