Annette was, IMHO, not he very best singer of the era; that would be Jeanette MacDonald. Nonetheless, Annette was a great entertainer and probably the best in her genre.

Venuti, Lang, Rollini and Hanshaw to top it off. This was probably the best possible record made in the late 20s. Annette was the very best singer of the era. I love Ella and Mildred, but she tops all of them. Her singing, just off key on purpose, is so perfect.

No, of course it's not wrong! You can like whatever you want. The more different kinds of music you listen to, the more enjoyment you can get! I suppose you can say there's only 2 kinds of music: good and bad! You keep on doing your own thing.

Part of the charm of this great song by Annette is that it was recorded in 1927. If it were modernized it would probably lose that charm. Ms. Hanshaw had lots of personality that came through her vocals. She sounded like she had fun when she recorded. The band is great too. She was so good. "Whoooooooooooo's that knockin' at my door...." Brilliant.
