The first trip by an A1 over the Settle-Carlisle since probably 1963 !
Tornado does battle not only with the gradient, but also with a fierce
westerly gale roaring up Ribblesdale and the resulting leaf fall took it's toll on the southbound journey with a late arrival back to York.

  • I have never seen such distorted steam! I'm surprised the cameraman was still there at the end of the filming! I want to send you a flask of hot soup.

  • excellent video nothing wrong with chime whistle

  • Looks like typical Ribblehead weather Andy. Agree about the whistle, the novelty should have worn off by now. Like Scotsman in apple green with Kylchap and deflectors. Its just not right and NRM should stick to their own rules. Great video mate. 5* John.

  • Cheers Steve, nice to see fresh motive power up there, especially an east coast pacific! I really wanted to hear the A1 whistle & not the chime, the crews seem to be treating it like a fairground attraction.
