Chum Kiu is not sinking bridge. Chum in this case means seeking, not sinking ! Chum in Chinese word has the same sound for seeking and sinking..In Wing Chum..seeking bridge means seeking the way to dissolve your enemy's attack by watching your enemy's body movement. Bridge in this case means..the way, the method..a bridge to understand your enemy's attack movements. I don't know who told you this Chum means sinking..you are very funny !!!
u should get the name right... it's 尋橋, which means seeking the bridge. bridge stands characteristic for the arms btw, like 馬, the horse for your legs / stance.
@Vojak3 There is more than one branch of Wing Chun, just like there is more than one branch of Hung Kuen. They all have similarities and differences! I wish people would acquire an education before they leave comments. I could call you a false martial artist due to your lack of historical knowledge about martial arts. Half educated Mcdojo practitioners....
If I am not too wrong, this is the Pan Nam Wing Chun branch.
The sequence is not important, because in each family, they perform differently. But the body structure and the relaxation of this practitioner are not good.
As about Chum Kiu, if you say Tầm Kiều, it is seeking the bridge. If you say Trầm Kiều, it is sinking the bridge. It depends on the ideographic character, not the English 'Chum Kiu'.
I was hoping he would keep on step sliding right off into the river because that sucked. Chum Kiu means seeking the bridge or searching for the bridge, not sinking.
I like the fact that instead of doing two low Bong Saos, instead, he does a low Bong Sao with a Wu Sao. This is very practical because trying to "pull off" two low Bong Saos in a real fight is just ridiculous! Kudos to this master!

False Chum Kiu.
0:20.. if you make it to high i could push you away and your stance would have no effect.
