This is Buster's Café Doncaster it's a Social Firm. I'm the first one here in the morning, I do the bacon and the sausage, put the chicken in, get the quiches ready get the flapjack do the scone. Before I came here I was on the dole for a year because the firm I used to work for closed down. Once I was out of work it was so hard to get another job because my medical history doesn't bode well for employers because they just look at what it written on paper without seeing the person underneath. Because of my epilepsy, people who don't understand it get scared that you are going to have a fit in front of customers and things like that.
If I hadn't got this job I dread to think what would have happened because I was getting more and more despondent because after a year on dole going to get a job was just getting further and further away. I'd been on loads and loads of jobs and most of them I didn't even get interviews for. I hope my future is here because although I have got the confidence while I am here, I think I would probably go back to square one if I wasn't here because the workplace is a hard place if you are not happy, I am happy we are all happy here we all just like, gel together and that gives you the confidence and once you get the confidence you can just go from strength to strength.
