Alas... Well you obviously did your homework and you must have a tremendous amount of beautiful footage to keep you busy for a few minutes. Many thanks for sharing it!

AWESOME set of videos! This is some of the best 844 footage I have seen. Terrific job...

Thanks! Between the crowds and the weather, getting the footage was sometimes a struggle... But in the end it was totally worth it.

Thanks!
Honestly, I was actually a little disappointed with that angle. With the steam plume as thick as it was, 844 was almost around the bend and into Keddie Yard before you could see anything.
When I was setting up in that spot directly over Tunnel 32, I was wondering why someone hadn't already grabbed that position...
I guess I found out why.
Take care!

Really nicely done! I take it from your end comment that this is where 844 heads off into the sunrise and you head home? Can we expect any more parts to this journey?

Sadly, no. This is all she wrote.
When I started this chase back in mid-April, I promised that I would follow it every inch of the way within California, but I wouldn't cross the state line. Bottom line was that I had important things to do back home, and chasing a rolling teakettle across half the United States wasn't on that list.
About five minutes after I shot the Beckwourth Pass roll-by she crossed back into Nevada, and I was homeward bound.
