@raptoresque it's the capital of the entire United Kingdom, if "England" had a devolved regional government, then London might be the capital of that too

It's people like you that confirm why I'm a Conservative. You Lefties are truly uninformed and backward-thinking.
As Pat Condell has pointed out, the rioters in Great Britain (which is England plus Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland) were Left-voting dregs of society, unwilling to educate themselves or train for a productive profession, unwilling to get off the government tit and earn their own way through life, and taught to hate the very society that was pandering to their every vice.

@LukeKCRoscoe Wales hasn't really been around since the mid 1500s when it's administration was formally incorporated into that of the Kingdom of England

London is the capital city
Britain is short for Great Britain, which refers to the island which contains most of the territory of the UK
The UK's full name is: The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (because its territory primarily consists of Great Britain- the "Great" was originally used to differentiate it from Brittany in northern France- and 6 of the counties of Ulster).
England was a country and is still called one even though it hasn't been since 1707 (same for Scotland)
