  • @cacophonyize So rather than saying Richard Pryor is marching to the beat of his own drum (by inspiring and affecting social movements), she says he's shuffling, because he's black and she's making a veiled criticism that he's sold out to the white man (mainstream media). So it works on two levels.

  • @cacophonyize As for the shuffling joke, I thought it was Bernhard's most clever by far. She mentioned earlier that Pryor never sold out (with earlier mention of his work with NBC from John Witherspoon), and she ended it by saying "He shuffles to the beat of his own drum." "Shuffling" in the context of African American history, has been used to depict and stereotype black folk similar to things like "black face" and other devices used to portray stereotypical black characters in the media.

  • @cacophonyize I don't know why people are interpreting this joke to be about the parkison's that would kill him in the 2000's. That's never been funny topic material (unless you're Louis C.K.).

  • Marsha Warfield was a "cutie" back then.... cute smile and fluffy hair.

The Marsha Warfield from Night Court was like this....

  • Robin Williams. Steve Martin. Leslie Nielsen. Guys who don't have an unfunny bone in their body.

  • @HackneyShark The reason they were funnier back in the day was, they were all actually friends who kew each other. Todays are not as intimate. It's just a bunch of comedians thrown together and given a script to read.

  • Marsha was halfway cute back in the day...

  • @XenophonZolatta

He was funny enough, he just wasn't at all insulting.

  • @HackneyShark I get what you're saying. There isn't a love amongst the roasters for each other like you see here.

  • first lady is fit but her voice reminds me of Oprah and thats a turn off
