Because that's how I got here... not exactly blues, lol. Then again, it's like comparing a pug to a wolf. Completely different, but if you go back far enough, you get to the same roots.

Just because blues is about getting the most out of very few notes, that doesn't mean all music should be. Its not as though Steve Vai is a failed blues guitarist who, try as he might, can't play slowly for the life of him. He's actually playing a different genre of music. Your comment seems a bit bigoted.

@AnthemicPolemic Steve Vai may have a self-indulgent style, and you may not like his music, but that doesn't mean he's not a serious guitarist or someone that appreciates his playing can't be a serious guitarist. I would have accepted "Steve Vai is not a blues guitarist" or "anyone that plays guitar hero doesn't take guitar seriously"..
