http://peplers.blogspot.com/ This is my chainsaw instructor demonstrating a cut he called the "Danish Pie", as he first saw it years ago in Denmark, and they referred to the the supporting block of wood as a "pie slice". It's a combination of a boring cut and a split level cut - boring through the tree will help avoid it splitting, and the split level part allows you to get a felling lever in to push it against the direction it is leaning in.

  • I call this cut the boring cut. It's similar in style anyway.

  • @cadets318 Yeah, it is similar, just leaves a little 'pie' slice at the back to support the tree till you're ready to fell.

  • This cut is called a split level, it is used for when trees are leaning against the direction of fall.

  • @LordJohnson91 Actually, it's a bit more complicated than a normal split level (I've done a video of a standard split level cut too). It's kind of a cross between a split level and a boring cut.

  • took like an hour to cut down one tree

  • @H9YP649UIBTYH7 That's why you don't use it very often, just when it's useful.

  • It is a boring cut. Just not in the way that you think it is.

Hey, I'm just messin' with you! It's good to know these different methods of felling trees. Even if you are from Denmark.
