@twarren20 do me a favor and go change your pad and clean up your pussy, because that funky ass smell is coing from you. This movie might be wonderful to you and it's all good but I choose to hate it because of the bull shit story and the stereotypes that hollywood continues to promote about us.Sorry about attacking you but you came at me first so neither one of us are not innocent here.

well yes but, it should be about a white person. we need more uplifting movies. we need a good black movie not built around stereo types fuck this movie. we need a movie without negative undertones. black people don't identify with this negative crap. portraying us like the old black and white films of the day being slave masters amusement. while we shuffle around.

@eurasianempress I agree with you to a certain point, but this is fiction. Yet Sapphire taking the realistic elements that of an abusive, incest family and putting it into a upbeat context is somewhat fictitious. Her struggle to reclaim her dignity; however, takes place over a long period of time an example would be the development of Abdul from baby to toddler in which she puts the abuse to the past to focus on his future, but it'll still haunt her, and her accomplishment of receiving her GED.

I enjoyed reading her novel...one of very few I could relate to. The only criticism I have is that no one just overcomes trauma this horrendous in such a short period of time. A person can be damaged for life. Not implying that no one can ever move on or find ways to cope, only that it takes a lot of time and work to heal. Plus few people just pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, it usually takes the right resources, and support...which Precious eventually found.

so what??

she's awesome & who cares if she's a dyke! If you've read the book, it's just as amazing as the movie....I like that she was involved in the process of making the movie. AND she refused MANY movie offers for years before she found someone who wouln't make Precious a streotype & give her character the kind of heart & feeling she deserves. I think she's a thoughtful and admirable person.....I mean, she could of sold her book out, but she didn't!!!

She's a dyke and pimping this stereotype along with the blessings of Oprah and Tyler.Well it's fronted as a black movie with the black stereotype in it.The hell with the coons behind this sorry ass movie.
You know its funny hearing you say something like this being fiction. Stuff like this happens. its just sad that you dont see that fathers do have sex with their daughters and mothers...welll alot of them know it and dont say anything about it. So please...Anything is possible. WHich this situation here is!
