I guess the key to lawn casting a spey line is to bring in a lot of line. Good to know.

@liltanker32 I will see if i can find the time for it but at the moment I am quite busy. Leaving for three weeks of fishing in Slovenia in a couple of days.

He y sweet casting. I was wondering if this rod and line setup can cast, say , 10 of t-8? with a 3 in fly or so?

@Intruder1728 Thanks...
I was fishing a similar setup(Rio Skagit short 425gr with a 10´ T-8 MOW tip and a 2.5" tubefly with conehead) last weekend and it worked quite nice, though not the same length on my cast as with a smaller fly.

Meaning I have tried it before (lawn casting) and found it difficult, but I see you strip in a lot of extra line (ie: more than when on the river) and then you can form a nice D loop and shoot the line out. I found it hard to form a D Loop on the lawn vs. getting it to stick on the water... now am I clear?

@mjlearmouth I always prefer to have a very small amount of shooting line outside the top guide, that way i will keep maximum control/contact over/to the shootinghead. Try tying a grass leader. Take a handfull of 10-12" monofilament pieces in 0.50-0.60mm(.020"-.023") diameter and tye them thogether with uniknots, the final leader should be around 10´-15´.
The knots on the leader will make it easier to make it "stick" to the grass.
