Oh, and BTW...take note: there is no more Soviet Union...but there are two states that the remnants of the Aral Sea are located within...just like there were two states where the Aral Sea was located in 1992.
The oil and gas companies have happily moved into the former Sea bed to explore oil and gas resources, while the market's demand for cotton continues to drive Uzbekistan to divert water from the Amu Darya river to irrigate fields for cotton planting. The market wants oil & cotton!!!

Are you actually trying to claim that businesses would do a better job of regulating and protecting the environment than would governments???
Nice try...but the diversion of water from the Amu Darya and Sar Darya Rivers, which is the single biggest reason for the collapse of the Aral Sea, was all about making money.
If anything, I'm sure that corporations would've been even more aggressive at diverting the waters!

this is the result of soviet policy , the USSR wanted to cultivate cotton in dry areas in this way they used the water from rivers Amu Daria and Sar daria
to irrigate cotton fields which led to the disappearance of Aral
